If it was not enough for obesity to be
such a life threatening disease, it has further made clear of its
position by threatening our sex lives. It has been found that obese men
find it difficult to perform in bed due to factors such as low self
esteem andlow self-esteem.
Psychological Effect
Performance anxiety and low self-esteem
can be a big issue for men if they are obese, what's with all the
modelling craze and hot beach bods making the rounds of popular culture,
men are getting more and more depressed about their physique/physical
fitness levels.
- Perfomance Anxiety: To be termed as obese means to be on the extreme end of being fat, and then comes the question of good perfomance in bed. It is certainly a worrying factor to weigh truckloads, thus making your sexual activity too difficult or strenuous. Also, you will constantly feel a lack of energy and would be lethargic, thus reducing your sexual desire, and making your sex life boring and pusing it dangerously on the brink of extinction. You will probably never get past the threshold of the bedroom door!
- Low Self Esteem: To get butt naked and dive in the sea of sexual desire can be a nerve wrecking experience because obese men have the fear of rejection owing to excessive body weight. Low self-esteem is evident and this makes it difficult to even talk or make an eye contact with the opposite sex. This way the desire for sex, sexual performance, and even sexual enjoyment fall dramatically. We say forget about low self esteem and that feeling of shame; be confident and meet the opposite sex eye to eye!And if you really think you need to lose weight, keep at it.
Direct Effect of Obesity
The causes for erectile dysfunction are
diseases that directly affect vascular function, such as hypertension,
heart disease and diabetes, and obesity causes most of these diseases.
Therefore, if you are obese you by default suffer from these diseases,
which will directly cause you to get an erectile dysfunction. It is also
possible for obesity to directly affect erectile dysfunction by
lowering testosterone levels. Testosterone, as you may know is the
primary sex hormone in men, and it plays an important role in both
libido and sexual function. When obesity contributes to other diseases,
such as hypertension that are known factors in erectile dysfunction, the
penis suddenly needs a sufficient supply of blood for an erection, and
once engorged the vessels would need to close in order to maintain the
erection. The diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol
and heart disease contribute to erectile dysfunction by damaging and
constricting blood vessels and affecting the blood flow in the penis.
The only sure way to steer away from such complications is to get fight obesity by doing exercises and eating nutritious diet. This way the testosterone level will also increase, and you will shed those extra kilos in order to keep fit and healthy.
